To generate the indirect cost rate for a grant, the Foundation requires organizations to choose their total expense/operating budget from the three options below. Once a grant organization has selected their total expense/operating budget, you will not have to select the budget tier again unless the tier changes.

• under $5 million;
• $5 million - $100 million; or
• over $100 million.

Based on the selection, an indirect rate will automatically be applied to the budget of each grant received from the Foundation.

To edit the total expense/operating budget size, please click on the button "Update Operating Budget." In the pop-up window, select the range your total expense/operating budget amount falls within from the drop-down menu and click "Submit." A change to the total expense/operating budget tier will change the indirect costs rate on new grants only, not on existing grants or amendments.
